Signed with the famous "N" and crown of "Capodimonte" porcelain from the royal factory of the King of Naples, this porcelain shield shaped plaque from the 1800's is in beautiful condition.
Most sources show this mark was used from 1771-1834. The embossed leather covered wood frame is heavily worn with significant losses down to the wood underneath and iron reinforcements on the back side, see photos. A notch was cut to expose the mark at the bottom of the plaque.
Hand painted and gold detail shows remarkable artistry on this antique work of art, also written "Capo di Monte," or Top of the Mountain. The plaque has not been removed from the frame, but we see no damage to it other than minor rubbing to the gold in places.
Overall size is 21 1/2" wide and 29" tall.
