Signed "United Table Bed Co, Chicago," this authentic Arts and Crafts or Mission Oak period library table hides a folding bed inside, sort of a Craftsman variation on the Murphy bed, sometimes called a "Metamorphic Bed."
The finish is excellent on all four sides, enhancing the fine quarter sawn oak grain. When the false drawer front is raised, a metal frame folds open, and there is an old thin mattress inside.
American antique furniture from the very early 1900's, size closed is 49" wide, 30" deep and 31" tall, when the bed is extended, length is 6' 8" total, the mattress is 48" wide.
