A charming country bed was hand crafted of pine, cherry and maple about 1840. The "cannonball" posts and shaped headboard are graceful.
Adapted to fit a standard twin or single mattress as shown, the finish is in very good condition with minor mars, shrinkage and warm antique patina, see photos. Said to be from Pennsylvania, wooden pegs are visible on the joints and there are brass bolt covers.
Strong and very usable, the sides are solid oak, and a pallet or "bunky board" is included so no separate spring unit is needed, just a mattress as shown.
This beautiful and rugged bed measures 7' long, 40" wide, the headboard is 37" tall and the footboard is 30" high.
The standard twin mattress used for the photos is 7" thick.
