An authentic late Victorian period cylinder or barrel rolltop desk dates from about 1880. Solid oak, the deep lustrous finish is excellent. There is understated incised "spoon" or chip carving, characteristic of the Eastlake period.
Drawers have "pin and cove" round cut dovetails and original engraved brasses. The pull out writing surface has a saddle leather top, inside are tiny cubicles.
Expert American craftsmanship can be seen with the smooth-rolling curved top. Size is 36" wide, 21" deep, 43" tall and the leather top is 29" high.
