Sometimes called a pier table, console or "petticoat" table in the American south, this 1810 era table was used in a foyer to check petticoats.
Elegant French Empire furniture, this classic table was entirely hand made of gorgeous flame grained mahogany. The French polish finish is very fine with glowing warm antique patina plus some stains, age shrinkage separations and mars for a little character - see photos. Shaped columns are lovely.
The drawer has hand cut dovetails and a chamfered bottom, small dovetails are also visible on the backside. Hand engraved bronze mounts are original, the mirror has been replaced.
Resting on bun feet, this table from France spent much of its life on a plantation near New Orleans. Size is 37" wide, 19" deep and 39" tall.
