Hand carved alabaster, this bust is signed by famous Italian sculptor, Giuseppe Cipriani, who lived from 1846-1911.
The lovely sculpture captures a young woman wearing flowers as she looks off to the side with a demure smile. Carved about 1900, this serene statue shows Art Nouveau period influence.
The sockel or base is a separate piece. There are minor scuffs at the edges of this creamy white work of art, the line on the neck appears to be part of the natural grain in the alabaster.
The engraved signature, "G. Cipriani," is on the back side, see photos. Dimensions are 10" across and almost 16" tall.
