Hand made of mahogany during the Georgian period in the late 1700's, a tall case or grandfather clock is in excellent running condition.
The mahogany case has an excellent rich, deep satiny finish with warm antique patina and a few small mars at the edges. There are shrinkage separations and warps from age, see photos. This is fairly characteristic of 200 year old English furniture. The vibrant figured flame grain mahogany is beautiful. There are filigree ornaments in the corners of the engraved brass dial.
Professionally cleaned and oiled, the 8 day brass movement has a bell strike on the hour. The upper door has old wavy glass, the lower door has a working lock and key. Tapered Doric columns are well proportioned on this understated but stately furniture from England. The backside has dovetail joints and hand cut nails.
Measurements are 23" wide, 11" deep and 84" tall.
