This Classical Italian 1925 era marquetry library, dining or hall table is beautiful. The Italian artistry includes exquisite mastery in "intarsia" or inlaid patterns of exotic wood - rosewood, tulipwood, mahogany and satinwood.
The satiny finish is superb, enhancing the natural figured wood grain. At both ends is a "secret" drawer. One leg has a warp, see photos.
In northern Italy, this table was often used for the "Antipasto" or appetizer course before dinner. Laden with wonderful specialties, this table would have been in a hall of a large palazzo. After appetizers, doors to the main dining room would have been opened for the sit down dinner.
Dimensions of this spectacular antique furniture are 77" long, 36" wide, 31 1/2" tall and legroom is 26" underneath.
