Hand crafted about 1790 in France, this spectacular solid cherry armoire has diagonal shaped panels. Pegged joints, hewn boards and hand cut nails and engraved brass mounts show historic artistry.
The finish is in very fine condition with exceptional glowing patina. Waxed and buffed, it needs only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain the warm luster. There are mars, shrinkage separations and warps from age as would be expected in an authentic 18th Century antique.
The large iron lock and key still work, doors swing smoothly on original lift off hinges. Inside are removable shelves, one with hand dovetailed drawers attached below. For easier moving, the crown can be removed.
Dimensions of this lovely furniture are 57" wide, 24" deep and 7' 11" tall.
