Acanthus Carved 1825 Empire King Size Bed

Hand carved American Empire furniture from about 1825 with acanthus leaves, this grand bed was adapted to fit a standard king size mattress as shown.

Expert work from about 25 years ago adapted this antique for modern living.

The silken finish on solid maple hardwood is in excellent condition. There are small shrinkage separations from age in the posts, which were carved from single maple logs. A center wooden rail is included to support innerspring units under the mattress.

Dimensions are 80" wide, 89" long and 64" tall.
