Called a "Davenport" desk after its English inventor, this charming 1870's Victorian desk was also called a ship captain's - because of its compact and efficient size, these were popular on shipboard.
This endearing furniture is solid walnut with matched burl panels. Hand made in America, drawers on the left have hand cut dovetails and carved pulls. False drawers on the right are for symmetry. The saddle leather writing suface lifts up, inside is storage plus tiny drawers and cubicles for paper. The finish is superb with warm color and antique patina.
Measurements are 22" wide, 25" deep and 35" tall, the writing surface area starts slanting upwards at 29 1/2" from the floor.
