Architectural salvage from the late 1800's, a Victorian period fireplace mantel and surround is carved of white marble, and includes a cast iron filigree insert with a golden bronze finish.
The hearth, mantel shelf and keystone are removable, the rest of the surround is mounted permanently to a wooden frame underneath, so this is decorative only, not usable for a fire. Sides are wood with faux marble graining. The marble has discolorations and chips plus various repairs and touchups, and has been polished and sealed - see photos.
Tiny angels or cherubs are embossed into the American made fire insert which was intended for gas, but would not meet modern codes. This graceful antique measures 62" wide and 12" deep at the mantel top, 45 1/2" tall, the body is 54" wide below the top shelf, and from the wall to the front of the hearth is 21" overall.
