A signed "Sonora" wind up phonograph or record player works beautifully. The original signature label inside includes "Highest Score for Tone - Gold Medal Winner at the Panama Pacific Exhibition in 1915," the San Diego World's Fair.
The mahogany case has dramatic Art Nouveau "bombe" curves and an excellent finish. Gold plated hardware is all original, the tone is warm and full. A few albums of standard 78 rpm records are included.
There is a volume knob on the left side which operated an "ear muff" in the horn. The speed control plays on "fast" and stops the turntable in the middle position, the stop and start lever does not work.
Measurements of this boldly designed American antique furniture are 22" wide excluding the removable crank, 22" deep and 46" tall.
