A "melodeon" or early version of a pump reed organ from the 1850's is genuine rosewood, and still plays softly. The old finish has shrinkage separations from age, mars and stains for antique character. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its patina.
Keys are genuine ivory, two did not play for us. The right pedal operates the bellows, the left is for "swell" or louder.
This American made "portable" musical instrument could be carried outside for garden parties, the lid closes to form a table or console.
Dimensions are 38" wide, 19" deep and 30" tall.
