Understated elegance describes this six piece sterling silver coffee and tea set from the early 1900's, hand made by famed American silversmiths, "Gorham," also signed by Boston jeweler,"Bigelow, Kennard & Co."
The set includes a coffee pot, tea pot, tilting hot water kettle on a stand with a warming burner, covered sugar, creamer and waste. The silver is in beautiful condition with nice antique patina or a "butler's" finish. There are tiny dings to the inside of the waste as shown. Ebonized handles are in very fine condition, they stay cool on the hot pots.
Weight of this heavy weight antique service is about 127 ounces. Hallmarks on each piece are called by collectors "LAG" for Lion, Anchor and "G" for Gorham. Engraved ID numbers have been blurred for privacy.
The coffee pot is 11" across and 9 1/2" tall, signed "2 3/8 Pint." The tea pot is engraved "2 Pint" and is 12" across and 7 1/2" tall, the kettle is lovely for serving beverages at a buffet, it is engraved "2 3/4 Pint" and is 10 1/2" across and 13 1/2" tall including the handle. Sugar and creamer are both 6 1/2" tall and the waste measures 6 1/2" across and 4 1/2" tall.
