Said to be from Pennsylvania, this hand carved pair of "rope" poster beds from around 1840 have been adapted to fit standard twin size mattresses as shown.
Rugged antique furniture, the finish is in very good condition on solid maple hardwood. Iron bolts with brass swinging covers secure the frame and "cannon ball" posts. Holes in the frame were for the original rope to be strung as a primitive spring.
Pallets or "bunky boards" are included to use instead of an inner spring unit, standard twin or single size mattresses will fit on top, see photos.
Measurements are 78" long, 39" wide and 47" tall.
