An original painting of a meandering mountain stream with a rowboat dates from the 1850's, and has a lavish original gold frame.
The sky and lacy trees are especially well done. Attributed by the family to Julius Klausen, a German painter who emigrated to the Green Lake area of Wisconsin, but there is no written proof.
This unsigned American antique work of art has an old repair to the canvas, see photos.
The burnished gold frame has restorations and losses as shown. Overall measurements are 43" wide, 31" tall and 4" deep.
