A pair of statues of famous cavaliers, Don Juan and Don Cesar, date from the 1890's. Richly detailed, these sculptures were cast in spelter, a white metal alloy similar to pewter. The dark bronze finish is beautiful on this American made works of art.
Both of these confident gentlemen sport rapiers and fine clothes, feathers in their hats. Wood bases are 7" diameter and height is 21."
Don Cesar is the hero of the opera Maritana by Jules Massenet after a book of Victor Hugo. Don Juan is the celebrated lover, famed in story, song and opera.
