Signed "L. & F. Moreau," this early 1900's sculpture lamp bears an engraved brass plate, "Prelude d'l Aurore," or Prelude of Dawn.
From the famous family of sculptors, the Moreau brothers were justly famous for their naturalistic statues like this lyre player.
Cast in "spelter," a white metal alloy similar to pewter, the original patinated finish is in extremely fine condition. The base of this work of art is marbleized wood. Original standard base brass and porcelain sockets have been rewired.
