A bronze sculpture captures an athlete as he prepares for an event, wearing only a traditional twisted belt or girdle.
His hands are drilled, so he may have been holding something. The signature is by the noted German artist "L. Eisenberger," who was known for his athletic works of art.
Ludwig Eisenberger lived 1858-1925 and this statue is a later work from about 1920. The dark rich patina has minor dings as shown.
The shaped marble base has beautiful grain and minor losses at the edges, see photos.
Measurements are 5" wide, 3" deep and 10" tall.
