French Carved Walnut 1900 Antique Nightstand, Marble Top, Signed Bastal #24386

A classic French nightstand with marble top was hand carved of walnut about 1900, and signed "A. Bastal, Lyon," France. The original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.

There are mars at the edges and shrinkage separations from age for a little antique character, see photos. There is a small flake at the edge of the red marble, which has been polished and sealed to resist stains. The drawer has hand cut dovetail joints and an original knob, the compartment is marble lined on this furniture from France.

Size is 17" square and 34" tall.
