An opulent French mantel clock set from the 1890's includes a marble cased clock with a sculpture and a pair of candelabra.
The antique clock has been professionally cleaned and oiled and keeps excellent time, running a week on a winding. A silvery bell counts the hour and sounds the half hour.
The back of the brass movement is engraved "Marque Fabrique, (Maker's Mark) V. F." Signed on the hand painted porcelain dial, behind a beveled glass door, is "Gogue of Rochechouart." The ancient town is in west central France.
The sculpture of a barefoot young lady gathering flowers is labeled, "Brise Printaniere" or loosely, Spring Break. Naturalistic with flowing Art Nouveau design, the cast spelter metal work of art has its original dark bronze and verdigris patina.
Clock size is 11" wide, 6" deep and 23" tall. Marble base candelabra are 7" wide, 6" deep and 20" tall without candles.
