Victorian Antique 1870 Grain Painted Full Size Hand Carved Cottage Bed

A full size Victorian bed from about 1870 was called "cottage furniture," with an original hand grained painted finish.

There are minor touchups to the original finish which has been preserved with clear varnish. Hand carved details and shaped panels are beautiful on this solid pine bed. American made antique furniture, the original side rails have been expertly extended to fit a standard modern full or double size mattress, the demonstrator in photos is 13" thick.

An upholstered platform or bunky board has been fitted to use instead of a modern spring unit, which would raise the mattress and cover too much of the headboard.

Measurements are 54 1/2" wide, 86" long, the headboard is 77" tall and the footboard is 36" high.
