A set of ten dining chairs are all original with well worn tooled leather upholstery from the 1890's, and they were hand carved of solid walnut in northern Italy.
The original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed. Frames are tight and strong with cross rungs at the bottom. Deeply sculpted detailing and arches are masterfully carved on this antique furniture from a country palazzo near Milan.
Comfortable spring seats and backs have original leather, embossed with gargoyle and vine motifs. Soft and flexible, there is significant wear, see photos. There is also a restoration to the faux leather backsides as shown.
Dimensions are 18" wide, 20" deep, 44" tall and seats are 20" high and 16" deep.
