Victorian Antique Jeweler Regulator Walnut Long Case Clock

A Victorian period jeweler's true regulator long case or grandfather clock was crafted in the 1880's for a jewelry store in Wisconsin, "R. Seidel." Super accurate clocks like these were used by watchmaker's to adjust the time or "regulate" clocks and watches.

The solid walnut case has burl panels and an old finish in very fine condition that could be original. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos. Glass is old and wavy.

Nickel over brass mounts and porcelain dial are in remarkably fine condition on this American made antique clock.

The 8 day silent movement has a sweep second hand and keeps very accurate time, we can not find a signature.

Measurements are 34" wide, 14" deep and 95" tall.

This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
