Sicilian Donkey Cart Antique Panel Fragment, Hand Painted Battle Scenes #29778

This tailgate panel from a traditional Sicilian donkey cart has vivid original painting of battle scenes with knights in armor and a dragon.

There are wrought iron mounts from where this wormy wood salvage was attached to the cart. There is typical overpainting in the ancient folk style of the Palermo region. This antique work of art from Italy is over 100 years old, and represents a dying art form.

Size is 47" long, 15" wide and 4 1/2" deep including the mounting hardware.
