A late Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk with a bookcase top dates from about 1885. Solid walnut with matched burl panels, the cylinder roll top glides smoothly open and the writing surface pulls out.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. Wavy glass in the upper door is original, shelves adjust on wooden supports. The desktop has new saddle leather, inside are compartments for papers with a few ink stains for character. "Spoon" carving in the pierced crest is especially beautiful.
Drawers have dovetail joints, brass hardware is original. The upper door only has a working lock and key. For easier delivery, the bookcase is a separate piece.
Measurements are 33" wide tip to tip, 23" deep, 96" tall and the desktop is 30" high.
