A lovely bronze nude sculpture carries a sprig of victory laurel and a baton or walking stick, and is signed "F. Charpentier." Dating from the early 1900's, the figure has a genuine gold finish, the bronze base has a dark chocolate patina and a foundry stamp.
The finish is in extremely fine condition on this naturalistic statue, capturing the subject in mid stride.
Felix Maurice Charpentier was born in 1858 in southern France and studied sculpture at Avignon. He won numerous prizes in Paris, his works are in public spaces, museums and collections across France and around the world. He died in Paris in 1924.
