This monumental bookcase from Germany has sculptures of male and female figures hand carved of solid oak, and dates from about 1900. There are grape and other fruit motifs, sculpted in three dimensions. Outer doors swing on brass piano hinges, center doors have beveled glass.
The original finish is in remarkable condition, with just enough dings and mars for a little antique character. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Three banks of shelves are adjustable. Doors have working locks and drawers have dovetail joints on this historic library furniture. For easier delivery, this bookcase disassembles.
Measurements are 11' 4" wide tip to tip, 25" deep and 83 1/2" tall.
