This statue entitled, "L'Ile d'Or," or The Island of Gold," is signed by noted artist, "Roncoulet" and bears a French foundry mark as well. Dating from around 1900, the barefoot young woman bears grapes and wheat from the harvest and wears a crown.
This sculpture is "spelter," a cast metal alloy similar to pewter. The original green and bronze painting is well preserved with minor touchups on this work of art. The wood pedestal is hand painted in faux red marble.
Size is 7 1/2" across the base and 22" tall.
