Shipper: STORE PICK UP
A traditional Chinese carved dowry chest or trunk from about 70 years ago could also be a coffee table. Deeply carved of genuine teak, engraved brass mounts and the padlock are authentic. The interior is camphor, the aromatic wood naturally repels insects, like our cedar. Sculpted garden motifs are richly detailed.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this antique furniture. Inside is a lift out tray, used for silks, part of a young woman's dowry to move to her new home upon her marriage.
To use as a coffee or cocktail table, it might be nice to fit a plate glass top.
Size is 36" long, 18" deep and 20" tall.
