Gothic Antique Oak French Trunk or Dowry Chest, Carved Figures #32505

Richly hand carved in the Gothic manner about 1890, this French trunk or dowry chest has full figured sculptures at the corners. Gothic tracery, "linenfold" panels and oak pegs at the joints are authentic. The bride and groom figures suggest that this was a dowry chest, made to hold her linens, silver and pewter.

The restored deep finish is in excellent condition on this antique furniture. Hand wrought brass hinges are original.

Measurements are 54" long, 21" deep and 24 1/2" tall
