Italian Antique Cassone, Dowry Chest, Blanket Trunk or Bench, Lion Paws #32573

A traditional Italian "Cassone," or marriage dowry chest, blanket trunk or bench was hand carved of solid walnut about 1890. There is a sculpted head and giant lion paws on this antique furniture.

These classic chests were filled with a young woman's dowry of linens, pewter and silver, and descended through daughters of a family.

The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving lots of losses, shrinkage separations from age and wear for character.

Size is 52" wide, 21" deep and 17" tall.
