A floor model music box is operated by nickel coins and plays 15 1/4" disks, signed "Wonder Musical Automaton" by famous maker, "Regina of Rahway, NJ." Dating from about 1900, the case is solid quarter sawn oak.
This mechanism is in very fine playing condition, with sweet, warm resonance. The comb has all teeth intact. Ten disks are included, including The Last Rose of Summer, The Holy City, Only One Girl in the World for Me, When You Know the Girl You Love, Jolly Fellows Waltz, Nothing Doing Song, Lead Kindly Light, A Bird in a Gilded Cage, I'll Be There, and The Chimes of Trinity. More disks can be purchased.
There is a lever for single play or repeat, a wooden box collects the nickels inside. Doors have working locks on this American made antique music box. This musical instrument was made for an ice cream parlor in Jefferson, Wis.
The original finish is in very good condition, with some crackling or "crazing" from age. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the antique patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Size is 28" wide tip to tip, 16" deep and 80" tall, including the removable gallery.
