This statue from about 1900 is after the famous original by Giambologna in Florence, Italy.
Cast in spelter or white metal alloy, the coppery restored bronze finish is in very fine condition with a few touchups on this antique sculpture.
Mercury is the messenger of the gods, shown by the wings on his feet and helmet and he is captured while racing on a heavenly errand. The base has a frieze of dancing angels or cupids.
Size is 9" wide, 7" deep and 27" tall.
