Shipper: HARP PACK - USPS/Fed Ex
This Swiss music box from the 1890's was once a beautiful playing instrument and still works, but it now sounds terrible because there are only four "arresters" remaining on the teeth of the comb. This means it plays like a piano holding the damper down with blurry sound. Restoration is tricky and difficult, only to be attempted by an expert.
The lovely case is inlaid marquetry with rosewood, satinwood and walnut burl with ebonized accents.
A cylinder played 8 tunes including "Waves of the Danube." An original card lists the tunes in German script on this charming antique instrument. The governor is jeweled.
Size is 27" long, 12" deep and 8" tall.
