A Victorian 1880 era "ship captain's" desk was also called a "Davenport" after its English inventor, Col. Davenport. The compact size and efficient use of space made this antique furniture functional on shipboard.
Solid walnut with burl panels, the restored finish is in excellent condition. Comfortably angled, the top has a new saddle leather writing surface. A door is on the right with a tiny pull out drawer fitted for an inkwell and pens. The left side has drawers with round dovetail joints. The key opens the lid and operates the door and drawers as well.
Dimensions are 26" wide, 22" deep, 40" tall, and the desk top slopes from 31" to 33" high.
