A Victorian period secretary desk from about 1850 is mahogany with inlaid banding and a medallion of ebony and satinwood. Hand crafted in England, this is functional and elegant library furniture.
The bookcase has original wavy glass doors and shelves that adjust by sliding into grooves in the sides.
The restored satiny finish is in excellent condition, preserving lots of mars, losses and shrinkage separations from age for antique character.
Pull out arms support the drop front, inside are tiny drawers and cubicles for papers. A key is the handle only, the lock does not work. A small locking compartment inside has a door with a weathered mirror. The writing surface is leather.
Lower drawers have solid oak sides that have been restored to glide smoothly and later brass pulls. The bookcase is removable for easier delivery, the lock and key work.
Measurements are 47 1/2" wide, 85" tall, and 24 1/2" deep, the writing surface is 31" tall.
Shipping rate based on ground floor delivery from a trusted service provider. Most deliveries occur 14-30 business days from payment, some slightly longer, some shorter.
