An Empire period console table from the 1840's has a flip and swivel top to open into a square game table. The top is solid cherry, the base is matched flame grain mahogany. Below the top is a secret compartment.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. There are hand cut dovetail joints on the back and there are minor shrinkage separations from age. Scroll feet and the pedestal are well proportioned.
Measurements in console position are 35 1/2" wide, 28 1/2" tall and 17 1/2" deep, opened to a game table, the top is is 35 1/2" square.
