Hand carved of solid walnut about 1890 in France, this hall or throne chair has old genuine needlepoint and petit point upholstery. The design is from the most famous tapestries in the world, the Lady and the Unicorn series, now in the Cloisters Museum in New York. The wonderful upholstery has charming wear and fading, see photos.
The Renaissance carved frame has its original finish with just enough wear and mars for a little antique character. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The large seat is comfortable and the frame is sturdy and durable.
Measurements are 25" wide, 30" deep, 47" tall and the seat is 18" high.
