"Second Shell" is the title of this pastel painting signed by "Joseph F. Sweeney, Oct. 10, 1988." A racing shell is an extremely narrow, and often comparatively long, rowing boat specifically designed for the ancient sport of racing or "crewing."
There is a label on the back from the custom framer and the "Gross McCleaf Gallery of Philadelphia." The artist was born in 1950.
There is protective plexiglass over this work of art, we have not opened it for inspection.
Overall dimensions are 62" wide, 25" tall and 1 1/2" deep.
This lovely summer riverside scene is lush and colorful.
