A grandfather or tall cased clock from the Georgian period around 1825 was handcrafted in England. The mahogany case has inlaid banding and the dial has original hand painting depicting sailboats.
The solid brass movement has been professionally oiled and adjusted and keeps accurate time for a week on a winding. There is a bell strike counting the hour.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving a few mars and shrinkage separations from age for a little character on this antique furniture. There is crackling and losses to the dial, see photos. Even with a blacklight we can detect no signature.
Measurements are 26" wide, 12" deep and 93" tall.
This clock needs to be "set up" after delivery - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
