An Empire hall console or library table or writing desk was hand carved of mahogany about 1860 in France. The top has banding around quarter matched flame grain panels.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving shrinkage separations and significant irregularities from age in the beautiful flame grain top, see photos.
There are hand cut dovetail joints on the drawer. The key is a handle only, the lock does not work.
Measurements are 43 1/2" long, 28" deep, 31" tall and legroom is 26" underneath.
