A fabulous solid quarter sawn oak "S" curve roll top desk from about 1890 has raised panels, two pull out shelves and a file drawer, signed "Derby of Boston, Mass." The lock does not operate but is engraved "Corbin Pat. 1884."
The restored rich finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique office or library furniture. There are minor mars and shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
The roll glides smoothly, sides are hinged swing out doors on this American made antique library or office furniture. Inside are tiny cubicles, pen drawers, note holders and pencil rests.
The center drawer is rebuilt. Deep side drawers have carved pulls and hand cut dovetail joints. The upper section is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 54" wide, 33" deep and 45 1/2" tall, the desk top is 30 1/2" high, the knee hole is 21" wide and 25 1/2" high.
