A palatial genuine bronze mantel clock from France dates from about 1890. Hand burnished with a rosy patina, the lavishly sculpted case is exquisite. The richly detailed bronze statue is of a mother and her baby, just before she puts the baby to bed. On the back are signatures "PG" and "Ardy & Co. (?)."
The brass clock movement runs accurately for a week on a winding, and has been professionally oiled and adjusted. A bell counts the hour and strikes the half hour. The movement is signed by famous maker, "A. D. Mougin."
Under a beveled glass door, the porcelain dial is hand painted on this antique clock, and has a hairline crack, see photos.
Measurements are 17" wide, almost 6" deep and 17" tall.
