A monumental secretary desk and bookcase was hand carved of mahogany in the Georgian manner about 1850. Draped urns and the carved and pierced shell crown are artistic. Hand carved rope twist moldings and details are authentic on this antique English library furniture.
The restored deep finish is in excellent condition, preserving minor shrinkage separations from age. The bookcase has old wavy glass panes in the doors and sliding adjustable shelves. Door locks still work.
The drawer has original dragon design brass pulls and opens to a drop front desk with a new leather writing surface. Lower doors also lock, covering two banks of drawers.
For easier delivery, the bookcase and finials are removable.
Measurements are 52" wide tip to tip, 104" tall and 23" deep, the desktop is 31" high.
Drawers have solid oak sides with beautiful tiny hand cut dovetail joints.
