Salvaged from a carpenter's workshop, this well worn carpenter's woodworking workbench was hand crafted about 1890. It would be an interesting farmhouse kitchen island, wine and cheese tasting table or planting bench.
Solid maple hardwood, the restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving loads of antique character - dings, stains and wear. There is a recessed well to keep tools and parts from rolling away.
The clamping vise has hand cut dovetail joints and is inoperable. Holes in the top were for movable posts when gluing projects.
The base is rock solid, and the top lifts off for easier handling of this American made historic and functional furniture.
Measurements are 80" long 29 1/2" wide and 36" tall.
