A palatial Victorian Rococo small scale china cabinet or vitrine was hand carved of solid rosewood in England about 1850. The left side of a pair, this is probably architectural salvage from a monumental fireplace mantel or library bookcase wall.
An old label on the back reads "Mrs M E Squirs, c/o E E Brad," another is defaced to make it illegible. The story is undoubtedly interesting but unknown.
There are hand carved chisel marks everywhere on the masterful detailing. Solid rosewood shelves are removable. Doors have lift off hinges on this palatial cabinet.
The old satiny finish is in very fine condition on this British antique furniture. A key is a handle only, the lock does not work, and the inlaid escutcheon is bone.
Dimensions are 33" wide tip to tip, 18" deep and 59 1/2" tall.
