A Victorian period lamp from about 1890 has a sculpture of "Faucheur par Bruchon," or The Reaper. The statue is cast spelter metal with a pewter finish, the base has a mottled bronze finish and "Made in France" foundry stamp. The natty farmer is sharpening his scythe to cut grain on this antique from France.
The sculptor Emile Bruchon has works in museums across Europe and America. His dates are sometimes given as 1870-1909, he was a student of the famed Mathurin Moreau and exhibited in the Paris Salon in 1880.
The antique etched and cut glass globe has minor flakes, see photos. There is a switch on the brass standard base socket, rewired with braided silk cord. On the shade holder, "Pat. 1890" is stamped.
Size is 12" x 10" and 19" tall.
