A Victorian period fireplace hearth fire screen has a hand stitched genuine needlepoint panel of a young woman in a garden. The original ebonized and hand painted gold finish has charming wear and has been preserved with clear varnish.
Hand carved in England about 1850, this picturesque antique furniture was used to moderate the heat of a hot fire. The panel and pleated silk backside are faded and worn, see photos.
Measurements are 25" wide, 14" deep and 38" tall.
